"Once upon a time, there was a bat, a squid, and a seahorse.." Barnard 150 Ou4 Sh2-129 LRGBHaOIII - Natural Color Palette
By simone curzi
It was quite a challenge to include Ou4, Sh2-129, and Barnard 150 in the same field while maintaining a natural palette that preserved both the dust and dark nebulae, all while showcasing the hydrogen and, most importantly, the faint oxygen of the delicate Squid Nebula. The result, though always improvable, was made possible thanks to many hours of integration collect using my dual RedCat51 setup, a particularly dark sky (with broadband data largely collected under the fantastic Bortle 3 sky of Forca Canapine), and the introduction of the 'GHS' process into my workflow, which was crucial for highlighting the dust and preserving the dark nebulae present. Additionally, the 'Continuum Subtraction' technique was decisive in integrating the narrowband signal naturally, even at the expense of some of its intensity.I hope you enjoy the result. Clear and dark skies to everyone!
