Sh2-132

By Toni Fabiani

Sh2-132 it is a nebula located in the Cepheus constellation, specifically in the south of said constellation (almost on the border with the Lizard), and is located about 10,000 light years away from us. It is a relatively large nebula (it has an apparent size of about 80′ x 70′ and an actual size of about 250 light years). The Lion Nebula is an HII region, but this region not only contains hydrogen, but also contains, although to a lesser extent, oxygen. We also see various nebulae. LBN 471 is the brightest reddish emission nebula in the area. With an apparent size of 30′ x 20′ (about the size of the full Moon), it is practically the entire red nebula that appears in the image. In addition, there are a series of dark nebulae from the Lynds catalog, LDN 1150, 1154, 1156, 1161 and 1163 and another from Barnard (B369).
