Ghosts Playing Among the Stars of Cepheus

By Aldo Zanetti

In the constellation of Cepheus there are many fascinating nebular objects that stimulate the imagination: here some spirits seem to play tag among the stars and galactic cirrus. The one in the center, with a shape that resembles the head of a crane with its crown is VdB152, a reflection nebula illuminated by a blue giant, followed by LDN1217 and LDN 1219, while the one on the top right is LBN532 and the red and blue head that observes the scene is LBN538. These objects are faint and require a clear sky and many hours of acquisition to be captured. This image required about 18 hours of RGB and 15 of Ha with an ASI2600MC (RGB) and an ASI1600MM (Ha), with an Askar FRA600 tube reduced to f/7 mounted on AM5 and OAG ASI174 mini guider with ASIair.
