LDN 43: Ha-Enhanced Depths of Ophiuchus
By Rafael Sampaio
This is my capture of LDN 43, a dark nebula in the Ophiuchus constellation. This dense molecular cloud blocks light from the stars behind it, creating a dramatic silhouette against the backdrop of the Milky Way. For this image, I incorporated Ha data to bring out the surrounding hydrogen emission and add depth to the otherwise dark structure of the nebula. The red glow complements the stark shadows, highlighting the interplay of light and darkness in this region. This project was particularly rewarding, with the PlaneWave CDK 17 capturing the delicate details of this enigmatic target. LDN 43 reminds us of the beauty hidden in the darkest corners of the cosmos. Thanks for looking!
