M45 - PLEIADES
By Loris Ferrini
The Pleiades, also known as the Seven Sisters, are an open cluster visible in the constellation of Taurus 440 light years from us. Remarkable is that the stars of the Pleiades are really close to each other, have a common origin and are linked by gravity. Given their distance, visible stars are much hotter than normal, and this is reflected in their color: they are blue or white giants. With the naked eye we can see this subject even from urban skies, but in photos that give their best show thanks to the dust system that surrounds them and which creates extensive reflection nebulae in the circumstances. It is such a complex system of nebulosities that they have even been cataloged as NGC
