The Blow of the Whale (NGC 4631 and NGC 4627)

NGC 4631 is a edge-on, spiral galaxy in the Canes Venatici constellation, approximately 25 million light-years away from Earth. It is also known as the Whale Galaxy because of its elongated shape, which resembles a swimming whale. The blow of the whale is the elliptical galaxy NGC 4627. It was discovered by William Herschel on March 1787
