RHO OPHIUCHI + BLUE HORSEHEAD NEBULA

By Francisco Serrano

Mosaic of two panels captured in bortle 2.7 The Rho Ophiuchi cloud, about 400 light-years from Earth in the constellation Ophiuchus, is a complex region of interstellar gas and dust, remarkable for its diversity of colors and structures. It is an active area of star formation, where new stars are born and develop. The nebulae in Rho Ophiuchi include emission nebulae, which shine red due to the ionization of hydrogen gas by young, hot stars; reflection nebulae, which reflect the light of nearby stars, displaying a blue glow; and dark nebulae, which are black silhouettes that block the light, creating striking contrasts. In the lower left part of the cloud lies IC 4592, the Blue Horsehead Nebula. This nebula reflects starlight, scattering it through dust particles and creating a distinctive and beautiful blue glow -Data / Setup 🔭📷: SkyWatcher Star Adventurer GTI. Samyang lens 135mm to f2,8.
