Mirrored Moontrail

By Natan Fontes

In the interior of Brazil, on the banks of a small and serene dam, I captured this beautiful scenery with the stars and their trails around the South Celestial Pole - SCP (elevation 15º 30'), with the crescent Moon (83, 7%), passing through the capture area, leaving its brilliant lunar trail, all mirrored in the dam. In the image, highlighted, the trails of the brightest stars in the constellations of Centaurus and Crux (to the right of the SCP, in the densest region) and in the constellation of Scorpius, the trail of the star Antares (yellow), close to the left side of the lunar trail, well reflected in the waters of the dam. The moon, which had already been illuminating the scene, enters the field leaving its bright trail, making the image even more beautiful.
