NGC 247
By Patrick Winkler
NGC 247 (also known as Caldwell 62) is an intermediate spiral galaxy about 11 Mio. light years away in the constellation Cetus. NGC 247 is a member of the Sculptor Group, and is 70.000 light years in diameter. Special about this galaxy is the unusual void on one side of the spiral disk. There are much more older and redder stars than in the rest of its spiral disk.
