Eta Carinae Nebula - Narrow Band
By Márcio Spínola
This is an amazing southern sky object too. The Brazilian astronomer and astrophysicist Augusto Damineli Neto, known internationally for his observations of the periodicity of change in brightness of the double star Eta Carinae, with an orbital period of 5.5 years,Eta Carina is estimated to have 100 to 150 solar masses, making it one of the most massive stars in the Milky Way, and could go supernova at any time. The Carina Nebula region has between 50 and 100 solar masses and is a star-forming region.
